Poem: Yours

20081006

MON

YOURS

You are red on every corner
red on each edge
each fire of your touch
melts….

I follow your flame
to the Ceiling that is thought—

I arrived there by
dancing with Lakshmi
her winding body
rises in smoke…

spellbound like a Snake
wooed by her hypnotic kisses

movements that can never be replicated
ballads or ballets would put her to Shame.

I struck the barrier of Feeling
and became enfolded in stillness.

Here nothing can escape
(nor do I want to)…

there are no trapped doors
no errors…no deception
or mistakes

Here, Trust is pure
I give myself like a bird
kissed by every drop of rain.

Here, She encircles me
invades my every space:
am I inside Her or is She within me?

I continually rise like vapor
to every corner of the Universe

She follows me because it cannot be Helped;
like Fire simply rises to Touch what’s next;
each kiss obliterates my Being…

until I become nothing
Her Nearness eliminates Thought
reduces Objection
erases Hunger
dispels Dreams.

Have I entered that Space-less
realm,

indescribable as Love Itself?

If this is It,
then I do not know where else to turn.

Is this Love?
For this not how mortals have Imagined Her to be—

for there are no Highs
there are no Lows
there is no Desire
not a hint of Thirst

unlike the heaving Elation that so many others
describe Her to be.

I feel Empty
free of Hurt or Pain
Laughter or Joy

It is a Feeling
that embarrasses Bliss

It is the Highest Breath of Lakshmi
whom the One has called Samadhi:

It is the Open Air.

Nothing left Untraced.

I am Empty
I am Pure

and I am altogether

Yours.
