“In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”—Ephesians 2:22
SCRIPTURE 2:22
For this moment that I knew
Your glance could not stray from mine
Your lips folding lightly a secret
You could no longer look into my eyes.
For this moment I knew
Although you said I was no longer “the one”
I knew that your heart doth lie
when your inverted glare cradled only Truth.
For this moment I knew
that our Love was not an artifact
made of cheesy love songs and half-heart bracelets…
I could feel our lives pressing closer as we tried to say Good-bye.
The never-ending truth is that Love shall not leave us.
With Tears filling up the pockets of our cells:
I sweat your beauty
I breathe through your breath
I look through the world with your eyes
and I could never deny
that for this moment I knew
(within the downward drift
of our human demise)
we have buried the most Sacred Truth:
this Bible of our Lives.

Additional Notes:
I did not intend this to be a religious poem, but rather, it was called 2:22 because that was the exact time (on the clock) my partner announced to me that she was leaving me. It was also the date August 22. So I called the poem Scripture 2:22, but I knew very little about the bible. I looked it up and found the following:
“In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.”—Ephesians 2:22
