Poem: Within
20080504
SUN.
WITHIN
Her Face,
to others—cold and transparent…
Her Name, Theresa
they saw her Frozen
in Ecstasy…
Her Gaze,
deep Liquid,
still, like a white pool.
They say she is
the Mother of Suffering
the Bearer of Pain
the Knower of Sadness
and that…
in Her
In her experience
that the Angels had Pierced her skin
with a Thousand black lines—
and from it bled the Jeweled-State:
Supreme Heart
unfolding in all its corners
Breathing—
Like a Lotus Flower.
But I have Seen her myself
She is Within me…
and When she Cries…
they are not that of Mortal Capacity:
they are the Crossing of Wonder
Transcendent of Feeling…
Like an Ocean
Her Salt is mine…
so that when I Cry
her Madness rushes over me…
Scores her Mark
slowly from my Left Eye…
I bleed for Her
from One…
As she is Lain
upon my Skin—
Her Salt reveals the Body’s Ocean
Within.
